Warning: Not
all advertised rescues are truly doing rescue.
If the rescue
claims to have "no red tape", "no
contract", or does not require that all animals are spayed/neutered,
and up to date on shots, they are just abusing the good name of "rescue" to
sell dogs. "Adopting" an animal from this sort of
person will perpetuate the misery of puppy mills, as the so-called
rescuer will use the adoption fee as income and continue to breed.
Those of us who
are truly rescuing animals take the time to make sure they are
healthy before we seek homes for them. This is what your adoption
fee partially covers (spay, neuter, shots, heart worm test, heart
worm preventative, flea control, medical treatment, etc.). The "red
tape" and
contract are there to protect the you as adopter.
We in rescue
want to make sure that the choice to adopt a rescue animal will
be rewarding to your family, and that the animal has a safe place
to come back to if things don't work out. We do our best
to ensure that your adopted animal is socialized, housetrained,
healthy, and ready to become a member of your family. A true rescue
organization will do everything it can to ensure that the animal
goes to a good and loving home.
