Mitten

2015-01-04T21:56:07-05:00
A New Eye, A New Life
Mitten was completely blind on one side and had trouble getting around and going up stairs. She needed surgery to restore her vision. Mitten lives with her mama, an 87 year old cancer survivor living on her deceased husband’s workers comp and social security. This senior citizen is consumed by her own medical bills as she manages her diabetes, fibrosis and severe arthritis. Every day she requires oxygen and walks with a cane, but she has taken amazing care of Mitten despite her own hardships. Unfortunately, she was unable to pay for Mitten’s surgery. When she wrote to ART for assistance she said: “I live alone and Mitten is not only a pet but my best friend. Mitten is very active and the loss of her sight has tremendously had an affect on her. I want to give her every opportunity that I can to live out her remaining days in comfort.” ART was able to raise $1415 to cover the procedure and Mitten can now see!

Beans

2015-01-04T21:56:40-05:00
Happy in a New Home
Poor Beans ended up in a local shelter and was incredibly unhappy in his cage. He began to get cage aggressive so no one was interested in adopting him. ART took him out of the shelter and put him in a foster home where he thrived. We are happy to report that sweet Beans has been adopted. He is an amazing dog and his new family is as lucky to get him as he is to get them. Congratulations to Beans and his new family!

Odie

2015-01-04T14:03:59-05:00

A Very Special Rescue from Across the World
Odie was a special rescue all the way from Iran, a place where animals are not thought of as pets. The people there believe dogs are bad so they are mistreated, abused and killed every day in the streets. Odie and his brother were two of the lucky ones. They were rescued by a group called Mehr Animal Shelter run by a vet who was trained in the US. This group supports a network that cares for puppies and ultimately has them flown to the United States for adoption. Odie ended up in the care of a loving ART foster home where he recovered from his long trip. We fattened him up and provided some medical care before he went to a forever home. His brother was also adopted. With the financial support from our donors and Sustaining Members, we hope to help with more puppies in the future.

Bear

2015-01-04T14:45:16-05:00
No More Tumors
Bear had five tumors that needed to be removed, but his owner could not afford the surgery. The Virginia Beach SPCA’s Hope Program paid $750 and ART paid $210 to have the surgery done. Thanks to our partnerships, animals receive much needed care despite the financial downfalls of their owners. Thank you to our wonderful donors and Sustaining Members who make this possible.

Scooter

2017-07-17T16:18:02-04:00
A Lucky Kitten Indeed!
Thanks to our Sustaining Members’ financial support, we were able to help this precious kitten Scooter. Scooter was found as a stray by a nice person, but he had an injured leg. The volunteer couldn’t afford the entire surgery, so ART contributed $100 to fix his leg. We are happy to report he has had the surgery and is recovering well. His volunteer rescuer has decided to keep him 🙂
