A Hoarding Case
ART worked on a difficult project we called Joey and Friends in Chesapeake. 200 cats were originally involved in a hoarding situation where they lived in deplorable filthy conditions and most were unaltered. The cats were moved to a safe facility and foster homes where they had clean food and water and were looked after daily by volunteers who love them. Many in the community stepped up to help and adopt. Thanks to our donors and Sustaining Members, we were able to raise over $2600 to fund this project and provide medical treatment for their many respiratory, digestive and eye issues. We also vaccinated and altered all of the kitties. Most have been adopted! We are pleased to report that the unadoptable cats are safe as well. Several went to lovely farms where they are valued and welcomed as “barn cats”, others remain at the sanctuary where continue to be cared for and loved. What a life – rags to riches!
